Default Must Read Regarding Ipods

I know there are a lot of people looking for ipod nanos. Before you buy, there are some things buyers must be aware of before purchasing any ipods from suppliers. This is especially true for suppliers from China, in the Guangdong region. I am in Guangzhou myself and have seen a lot of sellers in the GD area and from China in general. I know of no supplier that sells real or legit ipods from China. Most if not all of the ipods these seller are selling are FAKE! These sellers will tell you that these units are real and original. The fact is that they are not, they sell you units that may operate and look like the original all the way down to the click wheel. Everything will be real from the external look of the units, but these are not real units. They are not authorized by apple and the warranty will not be from apple.

1: They will have oem accessories, they will not have the real apple logo on them or it is a sticker type logo. Real apple units have the logo stamped onto their accessories.
2: On the box itself, the ipod picture will be raised in the real unit. I have seen fake ones that have done this and it is a fairly good copy of the box.
3: The most important thing is the serial number. On most units the serial number will not match up. Usually they can get the number to match up with what is displayed on the box and the back of the unit, but the serial in the system info it will not match up. That is the best way to tell that the unit is fake. Also on some all the serial will match up, but they charge you like 185 dollars for those units and for that price you can be buying real units.
4: If the serials match up you can always check the serial at www.apple.com/support and see how many days the serial has left on the warranty. If it tells you it has like 200 days means the serial has been used.

These units are IPODS, but they might be missing something internally, as they cannot have all the technology that apples has inside, they might be missing an important IC, but externally you cannot tell from a real unit to these fake ones. It is only when you check the serial or when the units have problems will you find out that it is a FAKE.

What these manufacturer are doing is paying people to copy serial numbers and they produces these ipods with these serial numbers in w hich you can check out with apple. These fake ipods are exactly like the real units hence they will sell it to you as originals or state so. If you push them hard, they will say apple will not cover the warranty, but they will give you one year from the factory. If you sell a lot of these units, you can get sued by apple if a client decides to complain to apple about it. I have seen people buy a lot of these units. They will not work as well as the real units there has been problems with the units.

I hope this posting will help people avoid some of the pitfalls of buying from China in regards to the ipods If anyone have any questions free to post here. I will try to answer them.
