what is google checkout, new free merchent service?
This is just a heads up but if a company (In the US/UK/Australia) dose not accept a CC for at lease sample/first time orders, red flags should be going up in your head. It is so easy and affordable to accept credit cards these days it makes you wonder why some wholesale suppliers wont accept it? Especialy now google checkout is free to sign up for and unlike paypal will never lock your account from money that it already in it...

As a "one man sole ownership" company I find your comments about credit cards untrue. i do NOT accept a direct Credit Card payment for the simple reason that the cost of being set up to do so is prohibitive.
If you state that accepting Paypal is the same as accepting a CC then you are just plain wrong. Paypal acts as a go-between for a buyer-seller deal. They take a fee to process a payment via whichever means is used (cash/check/cc) and do the "merchant" side of the deal. I, as the seller receive cleared funds... period. That is NOT the same as accepting a credit card direct from a consumer at all.
To set up my business to accept credit cards would involve a payment of approx US$75.00 set up fee + the commision (between 2.5-5% depending on card type and volume), not to mention that a seperate system is needed for both Amex and Diners, as well as taking the risk of a stolen/invalid card.
So before you start labelling all small businesses as rip-offs because they do not accept direct credit card payments, I suggest you learn the FACTS as to why, perhaps, they do NOT have this method available.
If you want to purchase my products and I state clearly that I accept Paypal/ Money Orders or Cashiers Checks, how the hell does that make me a rip-off merchant????
