Like all Business to Business (B2B) sites, DHGate has to be taken with a bit of caution. While there are fewer there than on many of the other popular B@B sites, there are still a number of scammers and crooks.
You should always investigate any potential supplier before sending off hard earned money.
Ask here, or on other forums about sources before placing an order. Make sure they are legitimate first.

I agree that buyers should investigate the seller before buying anything on DHgate. The site provides a seller trust score that should be consulted before buying anything.
I also recommend the DHgate escrow service rather than paying sellers directly. DHgate escrow protects the payment by not paying the seller your money until you have received and you are satisfied with the shipment.
