BW, I use Fedex to ship to the lower 48. I have decided for now not to mess with international. This is shipping individual products to my customers (usually a home addres). Fedex standard rates are better than UPS rates and compare very well to USPS (unless you can use media mail). If you are shipping 100+ per week then you can do a deal with UPS but it still isn't much better than Fedex. In 2+ years Fedex haven't damaged a thing and have never lost a parcel of mine. UPS have lost about 4 things coming to me in the last 2 years! Took over 2 weeks to find one parcel which ended up in Florida somehow. Mass>> Cali. via Florida?

BW,
I get Fedex book rates right now. No discount but they are calling me next week re that.... USPS is really the cheaper way if what you are sending weighs less than 5 pounds. If you can use the envelopes then they are by far the best! If you need to ship packages above 7 pounds I always get a better price from fedex. It might depend on where you are shipping FROM. If you are termed "rural" then the rate is higher. But Fedex beats UPS any day of the week for the lower 48!

yes, i agree fedex beat ups on rates, but i really not happy with Fedex when in the holiday season, like chirismas, even you reqest a signiture for the package, fedex just leave your package outside the door if no one home. they said that bc of holiday season, they do that all the time. but ups never do that even holiday. that is why i found ups have better service

We ship about 100 packages a day internationaly. Most of these packages are small no bigger than 14x12x12 (usaly smaller) For this we always use USPS, However every once in a while we ship out something over USPS's weight or size limits. For this we either use fedex or DHL.
For all domestic shipments we use USPS or UPS. Verry rarely do we ever use FEDEX or DHL for domestic shippments mainly because they dont give us as good of rates :)
Note: If you ship out alot of packages each month, GIVE UPS A CALL. they will give you awsome rates doe domestic shipments.

How many packages do you have to ship per day to get some kind of discounts from UPS?

We always use UPS. We have tried all the major courier companies and UPS is the most reliable and professional.

I have been using USPS for almost 3 years now and I have never had a problem. I have had items shiped to me by UPS and they have been lost or late more than I would expect.
