Lightbulb Some Tips from Experience...

Hello All,

I have been reading some of the threads and I feel so bad for many of you who have been searching so hard and had a difficult time finding real suppliers. When we first started in this business we encountered the same thing. Person after person claiming to have products they didn't have. Finally, we were so fed up with this cycle that we decided to use the common sense approach. If a someone is selling a brand new item for far less than retail it is only because of a few reasons:
  1. The Offer is not REAL!
  2. The Product for sale was STOLEN from the truck on the way to Wal-Mart!
  3. It is an "End of Life" model and you might be getting a good DEAL.

In most cases the offer is not real. The sad thing is that the person who is trying to sell it to you may not even know it! This happends because so many people are trying to sell other offers they receive. These people are called Brokers. When broker "John" collects your money and sends it off to the "supplier", he probably thinks he made a great deal. When he never gets the product to send to you, he realizes the money is gone and he is now responsible to send you, the customer, a refund!

While there are many reputable Full-Time brokers, there are many people trying to do it on the side to make extra money for their families.
In the beginning, brokers learn a lot of hard lessons. Many brokers will get out of the rat race and go back to the real world. The few that continue to fight to find the real suppliers and actually can make a business work, these people are the lucky ones.

Here are things to look for when considering new suppliers:
  1. Does the offer even seem possible?
  2. Did the person ask me for an application & resellers tax certificate? If not, have they added tax to the order?
  3. Does this person have an email signature with full contact information?
  4. Is it okay for me to pick up the product at the warehouse?
  5. Will they offer references on request?
  6. When you call the business does someone usually answer and are there several people to contact?
  7. Will they allow a sample order?

If you have answered no to any of these questions then do more homework. Make sure you feel comfortable. Most wholesalers and distributors will accept a secure form of payment on the first order or for small orders. Remember, sellers are often victims of fraud too. We have experienced receiving fake cashier's checks for C.O.D. payments and customers have filed false charge-backs claiming they did not recieve their products on credit card purchases. We have to protect ourselves too.

I hope this information was helpful to you.

Thats very harsh words.
Are you aware that this is a wholesale forum and most if not ALL products will be at below and WELL BELOW retail cost.

Be careful with what you say, because I have been in business for many years as well and I have seen "I am here to warn you/help you angels" who come to the rescue, by discrediting other companies to bolster their own reputation.

Remove all reference to your company and that may add some trust points to your comments

The post was more an ad than anything.

Many post such "article" type posts as a way to spread their name about the net.

Well the Heading is misleading as well...
"Tips from a real company"
Bah....

Sounds like this site cannot compete price wise with proper wholesalers. A good company can stand on its own merits without the need to issue warnings on its competition!

And yes you are right... Its sneaky underhanded spamming tactics that are used to circumvent the forum policies by appearing to offer something in return.

Thats 2 strikes... enough to be wary of them

I am sorry you feel that way and I appreciate your comments. Above see where it is stated that if it is far less than retail then that would be a sign that further investigation needs to be done. Just ask yourself this question.. Does Apple release any of their products to their distributors for less than half of the retail cost? Apple's products are in high demand and they want to keep things that way. The have established a perceived value for their products and I believe they are a good company. Anyway, we did not mean to bash anyone else. Just wanted to share our experiences in the wholesale business. I will remove the reference to our company. Thanks for the feedback!

I have no idea how much Apple release their products to their distributors... Do you... If you dont, then your comment is presumptuous and only an opinion, which by the helpful heading of this thread, is not in the publics interest.

You also never mentioned apple, which is only one of hundreds of products available to people/companies for the purpose of reselling at retail.

If a person wants to sell Apple, they can, as long as they abide by the qualifications of Apple.

However if people want to sell knockoffs, they should be able to and not steered away by biased "helpful" comments. Of course they should also realize the consequences of doing so... but thats not the subject of this thread... is it :)

We sell our products wholesale and we expect our buyers to put anywhere between 200% and 300% profit margin, to bring them up to suggested retail prices.

Ive seen Hard drives sell for $10 each, but in bulk. Why should your logic suggest that they are scammers, when they sell at less than 60% discount?

To do proper justice to this community, I suggest you take a look at your initial post and revise it, because as it stands now, you are making people think that they must get near retail prices or be scammed... and that is just plain WRONG !

People are here to make money, not be swindled into believing they must put up with low profit per unit items.

Then again... Some "wholesalers" really arent wholesalers, and you can tell that by the prices they charge and quantities expected per purchase....

Real wholesalers sell cheap and make their profits by selling in bulk. Those others are just middlemen who are selling retail at slightly cheaper prices... :P

It is a bit misleading, nowhere does it mention that the company specializes in refurbs, not new.

Seems like they are building a case to charge near retail for buy-backs, shelf clearings and other distress goods.

They are a legitimate company, I've read of them in some trade pubs, but this "helpful article" makes me wonder a bit about them.
